Oh yes, done all those a few times.

Love Il de Re, and La Rochelle right next door is the dog's cojones. I must know La Roche' better than I know my home town these days. It has a bit of everything, old town, old harbour, new marina, great restaurants, huge aquarium, bohemian quarter, street theatre, the huge Francofolies festival in July, fantastic park right down the side of town to the beach, and a second 'secret' beach tucked away behind the marina (2 euros on the water taxi from the old harbour... heaven).

Plage des Dames, Noirmoutier is unbeatable, though. If you can't kick back and chill out there, you're a lost soul. The scenery is superb, and some of the local 'scenery' brings a lump, too.

To your throat. Brings a lump to your throat. Natch...

Getting too Essexsy out there now in some places.

July August are the Hottest.
Jump in the pool, stay in the shade its its ok just.
You sweat just sitting down.

Go during Ramadan its cheaper. You can drink during Ramadan all day using your in room mini bar or duty free.

But to buy a drink at the bar I think they dont let you have it until 7pm.

Christmas is way too expensive now.
Abu Dhabi or Qatar can be cheaper, but not as lively!

Another sockette due in June, so no summer holiday for us this year most likely.

If I could, I'd probably do Croatia again.

Fuck going on holiday with a small baby, never again.

France for me, Mrs CHL and our 4 year old girly.

On an island half way down the Atlantic coast for five weeks through to the end of August. Bliss.

Sensible temperatures (usually) and the indigenous population is not Arabic (well, mostly not, anyway).

Dubai = cultural desert in a real desert. Go to Europe in the summer.

It's not just the summer temperatures, it's the materialistic culture, the glitz and money and shallow greed. A couple of days is fine, more is torture.

Dubai sounds an utterly loathsome place built on working conditions not far removed from slavery

Don't bother mate. Everyone leaves for the summer and there is a reason for that. Unless you plan to spend two weeks indoors forget it.

Re: Dubai Summer Holiiday
Sister lives there and there's a reason why Knightsbridge turns into little Arabia in the summer months. It's too fucking hit for them so you and your little English kids are gonna struggle. Regularly tops out at 50 degrees centigrade. Steer well clear anytime after May and wait till September.

Too hot for kids outdoors in Dubai in the summer, that's why deals are cheap.
